Monsoon protection: Check your car now!

If your car is not prepared for the monsoon, the Indian monsoon has a big impact on the car, because the downpour caused the water level on the road to rise, which may damage the car's parts and even cause an accident. Which parts should you check and what steps can you take to ensure that your vehicle works flawlessly during heavy rain? Let's see.

Safe parking!

First, ensuring safe parking during the rainy season is critical to your car, especially in the city of Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. In addition to safe parking, there are other steps you can take to ensure your car is in optimal condition during rain.

Tyre condition

All road-specific tires have deep grooves designed to eliminate moisture on the tire surface. Removing the water allows the tire to remain in contact with the road, which in turn provides traction to the vehicle. Tires with almost no tread can't dissipate water quickly and can't grab the road. Such cars can get out of control and lead to large-scale accidents.

Tyre inflation

While proper inflation is important in any type of weather, tire pressure becomes critical during the monsoon. If there is water on the road and the tire is under-inflated, it can cause water skiing. After hitting the water on the road at high speed, the surface of the tire collapses. Water forms a layer between the tire and the road surface and causes the vehicle to slip. It is important to maintain the recommended tire pressure in the vehicle.

Check the lamps

Visibility was poor during the rain. It’s important to look at all available resources and let others know where you are. All fixtures should always be inspected before the rainy season begins. Make sure the headlights, taillights, high position lights and fog lights are functioning properly.

Check the beadings

The beads around the door are made of rubber. Rubber has hardened and may crack for many years. If the rubber beads crack, the water will seep into the car, which can be a difficult experience for the occupants. A quick physical inspection of the rubber bead eliminates any cracks or holes in it. Replace them before removing the vehicle in the rain.

Check the underbody

Although any signs of rust on the body are bad, special efforts are made to check if the bottom of the vehicle is quite old. Sometimes holes are formed in the bottom of the car, and water can splash into the car from these holes. During the monsoon, the rust will get worse and the floor of the vehicle will fall into it. Thoroughly inspect the bottom for any such holes and secure them before entering the waterway.

Brake pads

Wet brake pads must work harder due to lower friction. Before the start of the monsoon season, the condition of the brakes must be checked. In addition, the brake pads and brake fluid should be checked to ensure that the vehicle provides optimum braking. Wet roads increase the stopping distance, so a good brake helps the vehicle to park within a safe distance.

Check AC

Although the weather may cool down during the rainy season, the work of air conditioning is very important. The front mist eliminator relies on AC to remove moisture. If the AC system fails, the windshield will not be clear, severely reducing visibility and causing accidents.

Wiper blades

After a few months of inactivity, the wiper blades may become useless. Due to the high temperatures and weather, the wiper blades tend to lose their water removal efficiency over time. It is important to check the wiper blades and replace them as necessary before the start of the rainy season. Proper removal of water is very important to clearly see the road ahead. Always keep the wiper blade clean.

Wiper fluid

Make sure there is enough wiper fluid in the reservoir. Many times, mud is deposited on the windshield and is hard to see. Dry mud can be difficult to remove, but the wiper fluid can be removed at any time. If necessary, be sure to check the wiper chamber and refill with regular water.

Air filter

The air in the monsoon season becomes very humid and full of dust particles. The air filter works harder to remove dust and provide pure air to the engine. It is important to check and clean the air filter before the monsoon. If the filter is not in good condition, the filter should be replaced to ensure that the engine is breathing without any obstruction.
